Follow-up systems position tools (blades, marking devices, cutting equipment, suction nozzles) correctly with respect to the web in accordance with the given guiding reference.
With a follow-up system both, the sensor and the tool are located on a linear guiding device. The sensor captures the web position and thus the actual position of the tool. The tool actual value is compared to the tool target value and an appropriate correction signal is sent to the actuator. Thus the tool always follows the guiding reference at a fixed distance.
